Having accrued more than 25 years of experience, Naila Chowdhury is highly regarded as a skilled leader in global peace initiatives. Involved in multiple endeavors, she has served as a global advisor for Cure Violence Global since 2022 and as director of global partnership and resource management for the Foundation for the Support of the United Nations since 2020. In addition, she has been a global ambassador for the Joyful Women Foundation since 2015, the founder and chair of Women4Empowerment since 2012, a global project advisor for Fashion 4 Development since 2011 and chairman of the TeleConsult Group since 2006.
Among earlier professional endeavors, Ms. Chowdhury excelled as chief executive officer of Pillars4Dignity, founding director of Social Impact and Innovation at the University of California, San Diego and chief executive officer of The Engineers Ltd. She has also offered her expertise to companies such as Mission Driven Finance, Robi Axiata Limited, Grameenphone Limited, Telenor Group and DHL. Among her civic contributions, Ms. Chowdhury is presently involved with the Queen’s Commonwealth trust, the Coalition of Hope, Global Communities, the San Diego International Film Festival, the San Diego Union-Tribune, Mission Driven Finance, UNESCO and Impact Leadership 21.
To prepare for her multifaceted career, Ms. Chowdhury earned a Higher Secondary Certificate and Secondary School Certificate from Holy Cross College in 1980. She subsequently studied marketing at Dhaka University in Bangladesh between 1989 and 1992 and attained an Executive Master of Business Administration from the Stockholm School of Economics in 2002. Following this achievement, she received a Senior Executive Leadership Development Diploma from the National University of Singapore and completed a program in organizational and executive leadership at the University of Oxford Saïd Business School in 2003.
